Q. Is there a cut-off time for submitting an adoption profile?
A. Yes. A pet adoption takes time to process, so adoption profiles must be completed and submitted 30-minutes prior to our adoption center closing time.
Q. Will the shelter hold a pet for me until I can get to the shelter?
A. We operate on a first come first serve basis. If we hold pets for people who do not show up or change their mind, we would likely miss wonderful opportunities with other interested people. Our adoptions are on a same day send home process. Read our complete adoption process here
Q. Does filling out an adoption profile on line hold a pet for me?
A. No it does not. The adoption profile can only be printed, completed, and brought with you to save time when you arrive to adopt. Completing the profile in advance does not hold a pet for you nor can we guarantee that the pet you are interested in will still be available when you arrive. All adoption profiles are subject to approval.
Q. Is there anything else I can do to save time when I come to adopt?
A. Yes. To provide ample service to our adopting customers, adoption profiles must be submitted 30-minutes prior to closing. If you have pets at home, be absolutely certain that their vaccinations are current. You can save time if you bring their shot records with you along with a completed profile printed from our website. Any dogs at home will be required to meet any of our adoption dogs so please bring your owned dog or dogs with you at the time of meeting an adoption pet. (cat interactions are NOT required)
Q. Is the Adoption Center open on Saturdays?
A. Yes. We are open for adoptions 11 a.m.-3:00 p.m. the first and third Saturdays of each month. We are grateful to the many volunteers who make it possible for the center to be open on these Saturdays. For information on joining our volunteers, click here
Q. Does the shelter require fenced yards for all adoption dogs?
A. Not at all. We recognize that many people live in areas where fencing is prohibited and let's face it, many people love to get out and walk their dogs. Walking can give dogs the exercise and mental stimulation they need to be happy and healthy.
Q. Can I take a pet home right away?
A. Yes. We will NO LONGER hold a pet for you overnight. It is our current policy to send a pet home with you on the day you meet it to reduce the animals time spent in our shelter which reduces its stress level and also decrease the likelihood that the pet will contract an illness during its stay at the shelter. Please visit our Adoption Fees & Process page for complete details on our same day send home requirements.
