April 29, 2024 - BISSELL Pet Foundation, a national animal welfare organization dedicated to ending pet homelessness, is prompting a national call for adoption once again this spring with its “Empty the Shelters” reduced-fee adoption event May 1 – 15. Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control will participate along with more than 380 shelters in 43 states. To help deserving shelter pets find loving homes, BISSELL Pet Foundation sponsors reduced adoption fees of $50 or less per cat or dog during each nationwide event.

April 29, 2024 - Mayor Sharon Tucker and the City of Fort Wayne's Community Development Division in partnership with Downtown Fort Wayne, announce the official start date of Sunday, May 5, for the City's first Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area, located in downtown Fort Wayne. The “Downtown DORA” received its final approval from the Fort Wayne City Council in late December of last year and final state approval in March. 

April 26, 2024 - Today, Google is proud to announce it is expanding its Midwest presence with a $2 billion data center in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Additionally, the company is announcing a skilled trade career development program and a collaboration with Indiana Michigan Power Company (I&M) to add clean energy to the local grid. 

April 25, 2024 - Did you find old or unwanted electronics while spring cleaning? The Allen County Department of Environmental Management (ACDEM) is hosting an Electronics Recycling Event on Saturday, May 4th. Allen County residents can bring five electronic items for five dollars to 2911 Meyer Road from 8am to 12pm.

Televisions, cell phones, cameras, CDs, cords, DVDs, keyboards, laptops, monitors, printers, radios, VCRs, and tablets are just a few of the items accepted at the Electronics Recycling Event. Residents are limited to bringing two televisions per vehicle. Cash or check are the only forms of payment accepted.
