Mayor Henry Proclaims February: "Know How 2 Go to College Month" in Fort Wayne IN
Research has shown that without regards to income level, America's young people have college aspirations and realize that a postsecondary education is a key to their future. Yet, despite their inclination, middle to low-income and first generation students are inadquately represented on college campuses. Barriers may include affordability,lack of college planning, preparation, expectations, mentorship and support systems. Therefore, Mayor Thomas Henry has proclaimed February as "Know How to Go to College" month in Fort Wayne, IN.
The Fort Wayne members of the Indiana College Success Coalition would like to share with you February’s Coalition activities and invite your participation. We encourage all parents, guardians, students and mentors of K-12 to attend! Activities include:
February 14th join us for the "Know How 2 Go to College" Pep Rally at Glenbrook Mall

Verizon/Net Literacy Computer Lab (10:00 am-12:30 pm): Free College Access Website Training. Parents & Students who complete this training will be entered into a drawing for a refurbished computer. Six refurbished computers will given away at 12:30pm. The Grand Prize is a "NEW" Laptop computer.

6th-8th grade students can register for the Twenty-first Century Scholars Program. Did you know, that students who are eligible for free/reduced lunch may also be eligible for this free "Tuition Scholarship"? Six refurbished computers will be awarded to families who complete an application at Glenbrook Mall.

Sunday, February 15th join the Financial Aid professionals at IPFW, Neff Hall for "College Goal Sunday".
Friday, February 27th, is "FAFSA Friday" Online Assistance.

This is an additional push for families needing assistance with filling out the FAFSA prior to the March 10 deadline. On Friday, February 27, Learn More Indiana will enable Hoosiers to participate online and get help through a streaming video filled with financial aid information. Students, counselors, teachers and parents can also get help from financial aid advisors via live chat by logging on between the hours of 11a.m.-2p.m. and 6p.m.-9p.m EST. Spanish assistance will be provided.
