    IPFW Division of Continuing Studies

    Course Development Grants

Objectives -  Team consisting of IPFW faculty and K-12 teachers to:

    1.  Develop dual-credit courses for high school and college students, that utilize two-way interactive video, Mediasite, or other teaching technologies.  This project will involve a member of the IPFW faculty and High School teacher or teachers who will work collaboratively to develop appropriate course content, delivery and assessment, and make the course available off site to area high school students cohort, with IPFW student cohort as originating site.

    -OR-

    2.   Develop a course for educators regarding effective strategies using collaborative learning and instructional technology integration.  This project may involve one or more K-12 teachers and IPFW faculty.  (The course will be recommended for both CRU and graduate re-licensure credit.)  It is envisioned this course would be offered in the spring or fall of 2007.

    Expectations –

Grantees will be expected to develop a viable course, to be offered in the Fall of 2006 or Spring of 2007.  Course must integrate technology into education, and cross perceived barriers between K-12 and post-secondary educators and institutions.  Additional measurable outcomes may be determined by each grantee team.

In addition to course development awards, grantees will be invited to attend to the Summer 2006 Teaching with Technology Institute at IPFW.   Coursework and practical hands-on use of technology at the Institute will help participant grantees further their course development.

    Time line for application

Submissions due January 5, 2006.  Grantees will be notified by February 5, 2006.  Funds are intended as summer development grants, and stipends will be paid during development period.

  • Call for Proposals - Allen County Educators

The Invent Tomorrow Education Consortium, in partnership with ACELINK, IPFW Division of Continuing Studies, and Comcast Cable promotes, encourages and rewards excellence in the integration of the Allen County Education Network in instruction. Through the “Building a Learning Community Award” program, educators/teams from qualified schools will be supported in their efforts to identify and design a student collaboration project with community and/or city leaders, other classrooms, experts, etc. These projects must utilize videoconferencing to connect students to external resources. The project must align with Indiana Academic standards and focus on an important community issue such as urban renewal, the digital divide, workforce literacy, economic development. Students and educators should use problem-based learning strategies to identify, research, and investigate solutions to their chosen issue.

ACELINK will reward selected educators/teams for designing and implementing bold classroom projects that elevate the level of interactive experiences and problem-based learning of their students using two-way interactive videoconferencing.

All K-12 educators or teams within Bishop Dwenger High School, East Allen County, Fort Wayne Community, Northwest Allen County or Southwest Allen County School districts are eligible to apply. Priority will be given to collaborative projects that identify a specific need, include authentic problem solving and utilize two-way interactive videoconferencing. All projects must be educator-led. Both individual and team proposals will be accepted. There will be no distinction between individual projects and team projects.

Contact ACELINK for a hard copy of the proposal and application. The deadline to apply is November 18, 2005.
