Redistricting
City Council
|
The
Fort Wayne City Council has begun the process of
looking into redistricting. A sub-committee of
Council has been set up to examine several
possibilities:
1. Do not redistrict until the next census
in 2010 (mandatory)
2. Redistrict by November 8, 2006, after
the Aboite and Northeast V annexations, in order
to distribute population more equitably in the
six districts (optional)
3. Request changes be made to the Indiana
Code that would allow the city of Fort Wayne a
greater number of City Council districts than
that of other 2nd class cities (state
legislative action required)

Tomorrow
|
Invent
Tomorrow is a visioning and strategic planning
process where the Fort Wayne and Allen County
communities will work together to develop a
common vision of what they would like Fort Wayne
and Allen County to become in the next ten to
twenty years. A community vision and strategic
action plan can provide direction and focus for
a community to work together to improve the
quality of life for all citizens.
One of the major hurdles for Invent Tomorrow,
Fort Wayne's strategic visioning project, was
accomplished during the planning phase. The
group of over 100 community stakeholders
identified six Key Performance Areas (KPA's)
that will direct the attention and focus of the
group's strategic action plan.
Where the attention is:
The seven KPA's are Community Image, Rivers,
Arts and Parks, the International Youth Arts
Festival, Economic Development, Education, and
Community Decision-Making. |
