Fort Wayne Students are College Bound (Press Release)
Posted On: 2009-02-11
Rally to Help ‘KnowHow2GO’ and Pay for College
Indiana’s College Success Coalition will hold a college access fair to raise excitement about going to college and to promote free, upcoming events that will help families pay for college, like College Goal Sunday. Earlier this month, Mayor Henry proclaimed February “KnowHow2Go” to College Month. The fair will gather educators, K-12th grade students and counselors, Work One recruiters and admissions representatives from Indiana Tech, IPFW, St. Francis and Ivy Tech Community College. High school performances will include a step show from Northside & Southside students. A computer lab will also be open in the mall for students and parents to access free resources that help plan and pay for college—including the opportunity to register for Indiana’s Twenty-first Century Scholars program for families with 6, 7 or 8th grade students. At the end of the program, parents and students who either complete the 15 minute internet class or register for the 21st Century Scholar program will be entered into a drawing for one of twelve refurbished computers from the Net Literacy program. Computers will be given away immediately following the event, parents and students must be present to win.
