SUMMARY Working under the direction of the Traffic Operations Supervisor, the incumbent will assist the technicians with the audit of the street light assets, painting, tagging poles, digging, and cleaning for the department. The incumbent is expected to exercise good judgment, independence, initiative, and professional expertise in conducting day-to-day operations. All work duties and activities must be performed in accordance with the City safety rules and operating regulations, policies and procedures as well as federal, state, and local regulations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the ability to interact with the public, City incumbents, and outside agencies with patience, tact, respect, and professionalism and the following. Other duties may be assigned.

LANGUAGE SKILLS The incumbent’s work consists of simple, repetitive routine tasks with the ability to understand the work methods and use of equipment and machinery. The incumbent must be able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. The incumbent must have the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one in small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Incumbent has contact with supervisor and with co-workers, other staff members and the general public to give and receive factual information about the work. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS The incumbent must have the ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. The incumbent must also have the ability to perform operations using units of weight, measurement, volume and distance. REASONING ABILITY The routine, repetitive, simple tasks are performed under close supervision. Incumbent’s work instructions are specific and complete. The incumbent has no authority to deviate from instructions. Incumbent’s job’s duties and tasks are of a moderate amount of involvement in the overall operation of the department. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Valid Indiana Driver's License if city vehicle is used. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee will exert effort regularly for sustained periods of time where strain may be intense. Effort includes moderate lifting up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending and/or more than normal visual or hearing acuity required. Work can be performed while in an abnormal sitting or standing position with moderate manual dexterity involved.
