July 27, 2016 - As progress on the Maumee Avenue realignment project moves forward, motorists will experience some delays.

Resurfacing work will restrict traffic to one lane beginning Thursday, July 28. Motorists may want to use a different route through the weekend. The road is expected to be back to two lanes by Monday, weather permitting.

Maumee Avenue, near the Indiana Tech campus, is being straightened to improve safety in the area. Over the past 11 years, 54 accidents have occurred at the curve that’s being removed with this project.

The improvement also includes brighter lighting, landscaping and trees, new storm inlets and stormwater pipes, and new curbs and ADA ramps.

The road is expected to be completed in November.
