Beacon Heights Church of the Brethren

On January 13, 2010 Beacon Heights Church of the Brethren fulfilled all necessary requirements to become a certified Green City Business in the City of Fort Wayne. Beacon Heights Church is the first church in the community to achieve the Green City Business status.

The innovative efforts Beacon Heights has made in multiple areas including, a reusable name-tag system, engaging and educating the congregation about sustainable practices.

Name tag system, is both a solid waste reduction and a reuse of resources.

An example of engaging members in sustainable practices, by providing a place for congregation members to recycle bulletins.

Another example of an educational opportunity, a simple note in a bathroom explaining one way to help conserve water usage.
