As the City of Fort Wayne continues its annexation efforts of regional unincorporated areas, the fleet has grown by approximately 30% in the past 10 years.

Through implementing cost saving measures and responsive environmental programs responsibility and recognition, we are proud to announce some of our largest departmental accomplishments during the past 5 years.

 


Even with a growing fleet, we are all still committed to the "big three:" getting it right the first time, getting it done quickly and completing the work at a fair price. Below is a look at some of Fleet Management's Current Projects and Future Goals: 

Current Projects

• Demonstrating Our Commitment to an Environmentally "Green" City

• Lowering Fuel Consumption Fleet Wide

• New Up-and-Running Faster Software

  • New Gas System On-line

• Streamline in-and-out processes of purchases for vehicles, trucks and equipment

• Increasing technician training in Diamond Logic, AC Delco & GM Motor Craft

• Keeping Proper Fleet Size and Saving Dollars for Our City Through Proper Utilization

Future Goals

• Purchasing Additional Hybrid Vehicles including a Hybrid Dump Truck

• Maintain an average of 95% Fleet Availability

Installing GPS system in more of the fleet

• Finding more grant money to fund green projects

Moving up in "100 Best" Fleet Ranking

Remaining as one of Top Green Fleets in North America
