  •
    • Large pieces of cardboard must be cut down into 3 feet by 3 feet sections and bundled with string or twine.  Then place the bundle next to your brown recycle bin.
    • Extra recyclables can be placed in brown paper sacks or in your old blue or green recycle bin.

Recyclables Need To Be Placed In the Bins As Follows:

    Brown Bin: Yellow Bin:
    Newspapers Plastics # 1 and # 2
    Magazines Brown Glass
    Catalogues Clear Glass
    Cardboard Green Glass
    Fiberboard Aluminum Cans
    Phonebooks Bi-metal Cans
    Office Paper Tin Cans
    Mixed Paper Steel Cans
      Aluminum Foil
      Aluminum Pie Pans
      Empty Steel Paint Cans

Recyclables do have to be rinsed out. Plastics and aluminum cans should be crushed. Labels do not have to be removed. Lids should be removed. Do not put recyclables in plastic bags--they will not be collected.

    • If you are presently subscribing  to another curbside recycling service, and live inside the City limits of Fort Wayne, you should contact your provider and cancel this service.

    • RECYCLING CONTAINERS WITH IMPROPER MATERIALS WILL BE LEFT AT THE CURB. Additional materials may be added to the recycling list at a later date.

If you have any questions regarding residential solid waste collection, contact the City's 311 call center by dialing 311 or 427-8311.

DO NOT RECYCLE THE FOLLOWING IN YOUR CURBSIDE RECYCLE BIN:

    • Light Bulbs
    • Scrap Metal
    • Styrofoam
    • Styrofoam Packing "Peanuts"
    • Mirrors
    • Ceramics
    • Plastics #'s 3,4,5,6,7
    • Plastic Wrap
    • Plastic Bags (even # 2)

  • Recycling collection is curbside every other week by National Serv-all, Inc.

  • National Serv-all provides two 18-gallon recycling containers to all city residential households that participate in the recycling collection program. This bin is to stay at the service address in the event that the resident moves.

  • Recyclables will be collected curbside (starting at 5 a.m.) on the same day as your garbage collection, every other week. National Serv-all will empty the bins and leave them at the curb. Recyclables will be collected at the curb only. There will be no recyclable pickup in alleyways even if the normal trash is placed in the alley for collection. This arrangement is expected to relieve congestion in alleyways for all collection services.
