Change in intersection control at Fairfield Ave. and Kinsmoor Ave.

Please be advised the Traffic Engineering Department has completed a study reviewing the warrants for the traffic signal at the intersection of Fairfield Ave. and Kinsmoor Avenue.  The results of the study reveled that, due to changes in traffic patterns in the area, the traffic signal is no longer warranted.  The traffic signal will be put on flash beginning Tuesday, December 6, 2011, with red indications for Kinsmoor Avenue. and amber indications for Fairfield Avenue.  Stop signs will be installed for traffic on Kinsmoor Avenue.  The flashing of the traffic signal will continue for a 90 day trial period. Traffic will be monitored to determine if the traffic signal can be permanently removed.  For further information or for problems that may develop contact the Traffic Engineering Department at 427-1172.

Closure of Hazelett Rd.

Please be advised Hazelett Rd. will be closed to through traffic between St. Joe Center Rd. and Rothman Road.  The closure will begin Monday, November 28, 2011, and continue through February 29, 2012, weather permitting.  The closure will allow the contractor, Kurtz Excavating, to install a sanitary sewer line along and across Hazelett Road.  Access to residents will be maintained from the north or south, but not both as construction progresses along Hazelett Road.  The contractor will be responsible for placement and maintenance of all warning signs and barricades.  For further information or for problems that may develop contact the Traffic Engineering Department at 427-1172.

Lane restrictions on St. Joe Center Road

Please be advised there will be a change in the traffic control on St. Joe Center Road for the bridge reconstruction over the St. Joe River.  Beginning Monday, November 21, 2011 both westbound lanes on St. Joe Center Rd. will be closed.  Two-way traffic will be maintained by splitting the two eastbound lanes.  This will continue through May of 2012, weather permitting.  Shifting two-way traffic into the eastbound lanes will result in a lane width of 9’6”.  Advisory speed plates will be installed to warn motorists of these narrow lane widths and to lower the speed through the construction area.  The contractor will be responsible for placement and maintenance of all warning signs and barricades.  For further information or for problems that may develop contact the Allen County Highway Department at 449-7369.

Lane restrictions on Jefferson Blvd.

Please be advised the two south lanes on Jefferson Blvd. for eastbound traffic will be closed between Ewing St. and Webster Street.  These lane restrictions will begin Friday, November 18, 2011 and continue through April of 2012, weather permitting.  The lane restrictions will allow the contractor, Hagerman Inc., to begin construction on the first phase of the new Harrison Project on the south side of Jefferson Boulevard.  Motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes as congestion and delays can be expected, especially during rush hours.  The contractor will be responsible for placement and maintenance of all warning signs and barricades.  For further information or for problems that may develop contact the Traffic Engineering Department at 427-1172.

Spring Street Bridge Detour Routes

The City of Fort Wayne is partnering with the Allen County Highway Department (Lead Agency) to rehabilitate the Spring St Bridge over the Norfolk Southern Railroad; reconstruct and widen Spring St from Sprunger Ave to Steup Ave to provide turn lanes; signalize the intersection of Leesburg Rd & Spring St; install sidewalks along each side of street and other related roadway work.

Official Detour Routes:

Spring Street:  Bass Rd (Spring St) to Hillegas Rd to State Blvd to Tyler Ave to Spring St.

Leesburg Road:  Leesburg Rd to Main St to Runion Ave to Spring St.

The traffic signal at the intersection of Spring Street and Tyler Avenue has been put on flash. The change in operation of this signal is due to the closure of Spring St. for the bridge reconstruction just west of this intersection.  Spring St. is scheduled to remain closed through October of 2012.  The traffic signal will flash amber for Spring St. and red for Tyler Avenue, which will reduce delays for motorists.

Lane closure on Brackenridge Street

Please be advised Brackenridge St. will be made one way eastbound between Webster Street and Harrison Street.  This change to one way operation will begin Monday, October 3, 2011 and continue for 5 months, weather permitting.  The change in traffic flow in this area will allow the contractor, Advanced Restoration Contractors, Inc., to complete restoration to the Ross-Adair Federal Building plaza.  The sidewalks along Brackenridge St. between Webster St. and Harrison St. as well as the sidewalk along Harrison St. between Brackenridge St. and Douglas St. will be closed during this restoration.  The contractor will be responsible for placement and maintenance of all warning signs and barricades.
