REDEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT

REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION

The Redevelopment Commission promotes and implements opportunity projects, acting as a catalyst to develop blighted and other areas that have shown a cessation of growth and lack of development, especially in the downtown area. This is done through techniques including real estate acquisition, site preparation and/or providing public infrastructure to the site. Financing resources generally used are Tax Incremental Financing and Redevelopment General Obligation Bonds.

Related to the Redevelopment Commission but a separate entity is the Redevelopment Authority - the Bonding Agent for the Grand Wayne Center and Harrison Square. The Redevelopment Authority only meets on an as-needed basis.  You may call 427-1127 to check for any upcoming meetings of the Authority.
