Virtual Medicine (Retinal Camera) PDF Print E-mail
This iTeam is focused around medical uses of cameras and remote diagnosis, dealing with diabetic patients and possible blood vessels in the eye, which if not diagnosed in time and operated on could result in permanent blindness.

By putting a camera in clinics that do not have the availability of a specialist, patients at these clinics will now have the availability of a specialist to diagnosis them from a remote location, usually their office or home.  The specialist would have the ability to sign on and either in real time or saved for later viewing, review camera images in high resolution video of the patient.

Hundreds of diabetic patients, including those referred from other clinics, each year can benefit from the services, usually the doctors only come to the clinic twice a month to look at patients’ eyes.

With real time diagnosis, patients with immediate needs can have immediate care, resulting in numerous patients saving their eyes from permanent vision problems.

iTeam Members:  Matthew 25 Health and Dental Clinic, Allen County Retinal Surgeons, Lutheran Foundation, and City of Fort Wayne.
