Since 2009, the City has conducted numerous meetings to discuss the project with residents, historical preservation groups, neighborhoods and other interested parties. [ Read More Below ]
In order to get a better visual image of the project, preliminary drawings were put together incorporating many of the ideas residents suggested over the past four years. Design elements such as traffic calming features, landscaping on both sides of the roadway and in a center median, ornamental street lighting, crosswalks, sidewalks separated by a park strip, and a turn lane at the entrance to the Brookview neighborhood. A landscaped park setting will separate the new bridge from the current curve, and connections for safe and easy access to the trail system will be provided. These elements enhance the neighborhood, improve safety and aid during times of flooding.
