About the “My New Trash Day”
Changes to the garbage collection day process were made to improve service. The Mayor’s Working Group on Garbage and Recycling began meeting in August to look for solutions to help improve garbage and recycling collection. The group examined a variety of issues, including the process 311 has in place to collect and forward information about garbage collection issues, property damage due to garbage collection, trash left in the streets and alleys, and garbage collection routes.
By far, the number one concern from residents has been missed pickups. The Mayor’s Working Group on Garbage and Recycling concluded that the current route map is inefficient and that changing the map collection days was a fix that could provide better service. The new collection map will shift some collection days. It is interactive and works with your address.
The Mayor’s Working Group on Garbage and Recycling is made up of nine neighborhood association presidents, two City Council members, staff from the City’s Solid Waste Department and representatives from Red River Waste Solutions Inc.
