January 12, 2023 - The City of Fort Wayne would like to receive feedback regarding access to affordable and safe housing in our community. As part of the City’s fair housing assessment, the Office of Housing and Neighborhood Services is inviting residents to attend a public meeting to discuss fair housing.

The meeting is Tuesday, January 24, 6-7:30 p.m. at the Allen County Public Library Theater, 900 Library Plaza

Because the City receives federal funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), a fair housing assessment, officially called an Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice, is required every five years. The assessment examines local demographic and housing data, local zoning and planning documents, fair housing programs, and state and local statutes and ordinances. The assessment also gathers information through interviews with local planners, housing advocates, social service providers, government officials and the public to identify barriers to fair housing. Possible barriers include a lack of affordable housing along public transit routes, prohibitive rental costs, or difficulties securing mortgages.

Anyone with questions or needing special accommodations for the public meeting should contact the City 48 hours in advance by phone at 260-427-2134 or 311 or by email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
