Fort Wayne Common Council Meetings - Public Comment 

As our state and city begin the reopening process, we are pleased to announce that in-person Public Comment is returning to Fort Wayne Common Council meetings. This opportunity will occur on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month, at the end of the Regular Session.

Anyone wishing to attend to provide Public Comment must call and reserve a space via the City Clerk’s office at 260-427-1221. The office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 AM through 5 PM. You will be required to provide your name, address and a contact phone number. There are 24 spaces available, which will be reserved on a first call/first reserved basis. You may reserve your space to participate on June 22, 2021, beginning Wednesday June 16 at 8 AM through Monday June 21 at noon. Only those who have submitted their information in advance will be permitted entry, as seating and room spaces are limited.


Social distancing of 6 feet continues to be in effect.

Due to space constraints and to maintain everyone’s safety, there will be separate spaces maintained for attendees– one for public comment, one for media and one for bill presenters. All rooms will have the meeting live streamed for attendees’ convenience. Each group will be informed by staff when their opportunity to participate is approaching. Commenters will speak based on the order their reservation was received.

The guidelines for Public Comment participation remain unchanged:

  • Each commenter is allotted approximately a two-minute timeframe, subject to change
  • Commenters must state their name and full address at the start of their time
  • Common Council meetings are public in nature and streamed on multiple platforms, therefore language used in your comment must be appropriate for all ages and groups
  • Public Comment is heard at the end of the Regular Session, on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month

City Council Schedule:

Committee Session only - 1st and 3rd Tuesdays

Committee Session followed by a Regular Session - 2nd  and 4th Tuesdays
5:30 P.M. - Citizens Square - Rooms 30 and 35 Garden Level

Council members discuss the ordinances and resolutions for each committee in depth and vote for a recommendation on each item. No final action is taken.

Regular Session - 2nd and 4th Tuesdays
5:30 P.M. - Citizens Square - Rooms 30 and 35 Garden Level

Council Members introduce new ordinances and resolutions to be discussed later. Council Members follow with the final voting for ordinances and resolutions that have been discussed in prior weeks. Public Comment is uploaded corresponding to these sessions.
