Zoning Ordinance Update Meetings...

Post by GalindoP » Wed Jan 23, 2013 9:52 am

Fort Wayne Neighborhood Associations:

We are sending this to let you know about several upcoming meetings for the next phase of the ongoing Allen County – Fort Wayne Ordinance Update project. The primary objective of this project is to update and align the Fort Wayne and Allen County zoning ordinances. This project is part of ongoing work to improve, clarify, simplify, and streamline the development and permitting processes.

The Joint Permit Oversight Board has previously engaged a consultant, Clarion Associates, to assist Allen County and Fort Wayne with this project.

The Phase II draft zoning ordinance documents have been completed by Clarion Associates and the Department of Planning Services (DPS) staff. This phase of the project includes updated and aligned zoning ordinance language for:

• Administration (including Permits, Board of Zoning Appeals and Plan Commission procedures, and Enforcement)
• Development Plans (standards and procedures for projects that require Plan Commission approval of a development plan)
• General Provisions
• Permitted Uses (for the agricultural and residential zoning districts, including Special Uses and development standards)
• Site Plan Review (standards and procedures for certain projects that do not require development plan approval, including individual nonresidential buildings)
• Subdivision Control (standards and procedures for subdividing land)

Don Elliott and Shelby Sommers of Clarion Associates will be here for stakeholder and public meetings for this phase of the project on Tuesday, January 29th, Wednesday, January 30th, and Thursday, January 31st. Don led the overall project meetings in February 2012, and the subdivision provisions meetings in October 2012.

There are two ways that you can participate in this phase of the project:

1. A stakeholder meeting (see invitation below):

Allen County – Fort Wayne ordinance update stakeholder group meeting

Date: January 30th, 2013
Time: 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.
Location: Citizens Square
200 East Berry Street
Garden Level
Room 030

We will be holding a stakeholder meeting at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 30th, in Room 030 on the Garden (Basement) Level of the Citizens Square building (the Council Discussion Room).

2. A public meeting will be held on Wednesday January 30th, in Room 035 on the Garden (Basement) Level of the Citizens Square building (the Council Court Room). The public meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. A flyer for the public meeting is also attached.

Clarion Associates will be leading and facilitating these meetings.

The Phase II public draft documents are located at the DPS website at: http://www.allencounty.us/dps

Please feel free to attend either the stakeholders meeting or the public meeting and give any ideas you have on the projects. Feel free to forward this email or the flyer to other members of your associations who you feel would be interested in attending these meetings.

If you are unable to attend and would still like to comment, you can submit your comments to Pat Fahey of the Department of Planning Services at 200 East Berry Street, Suite 150, Citizens Square, Fort Wayne, IN, 46802 or at PatrickFahey@allencounty.us .

Please let me know if you have any questions on this information.

Pat Fahey
Department of Planning Services
