Job Description:

SUMMARY
Working under the direction of the Aquatic Supervisor, incumbent manages the total operations of a municipal swimming pool. Coordinates and supervises staff, programs, maintenance, and public safety.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Schedules and supervises staff;
• Prepares daily reports and attendance records;
• Deposits money in bank;
• Schedules and supervises all programs;
• Enforces safety rules and regulations;
• Assigns staff duties;
• Maintains equipment and supply inventory;
• Meets all Board of Health Standards;
• Monitors/Adds chemicals;
• Backwashes pool;
• Clears and secures pool at closing;
• Opens pool.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
Performs other duties as required;

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directs routine supervision of 10-24 aquatic employees. Supervision is routine.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); with two years of Aquatic experience;
• Must be certified in Standard First Aid and Community CPR;
• Two years' experience working in an aquatic setting;
• Lifeguard and water Safety Instructor preferred;
• Specialized knowledge of principles and practices relating to Lifeguarding developed through on-the-job procedures.
• Valid Indiana Driver's License if City vehicle is used.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Indiana Driver's License if City vehicle is used
Certification in Standard First Aid, and Community CPR
Water Safety Instructor and Lifeguarding Preferred
