August 22, 2016 - Police Chief Steve Reed and Mayor Tom Henry today welcomed nine lateral officers to the Fort Wayne Police Department. The nine officers, seven males and two females, will begin their abbreviated training at the Public Safety Academy.
Eight of these officers come from departments within the State of Indiana. The other is from the Lima, Ohio Police Department. Their law enforcement experience ranges from two years to as many as 11 years.
“I look forward to having these seasoned officers help augment our department. With an additional recruit class that we plan to have start in January 2017, the Fort Wayne Police Department strives to being prepared for the demands placed on us," said Chief Reed.
