February 19, 2018 - City Utilities crews remain active at this hour, working to protect neighborhoods from the potential of street flooding and back-ups.
Earlier today, as a precaution, crews placed 8 pumps in neighborhoods prone to street flooding. Four of those pumps are operating at this hour.
- Hartman Road (pumping)
- Wheaton Drive (Harris Elementary School) (pumping)
- Vesey Park (pumping)
- Hemlock and Knightsway (pumping)
- Tillman Road/Calhoun Street
- Belle Vista Boulevard/Corvalis Avenue
- Fernwood Avenue/Dalevue Drive
- Old Mill Road/W. Fairfax Avenue
Weather forecasts are calling for additional rainfall through the next several days and additional pumps are on-hand should they be needed.
The Public Works Division is monitoring river levels. At this time, river levels are well below flood stage. Forecasts are calling for the rivers to crest on Friday with a possibility of minor to moderate flooding.
City Utilities reminds residents to check stormwater drains and keep them clear of trash, leaves and other debris. The drains need to be clear so rain can leave neighborhood streets.
Motorists should avoid driving through flooded roadways.
