November 14, 2018 - City of Fort Wayne Street Department trucks are set to pre-treat City streets in anticipation of freezing rain. City trucks are loaded and ready to go with trucks carrying liquid-brine, a substance sprayed on the road to reduce ice formations that make streets slick during winter events.

Forecasters are calling for morning rain possibly mixed with sleet and snow later in the morning.  Coupled with colder temperatures, that could create slick driving conditions in the morning.  Pre-treating the roads minimizes the effects of the precipitation.

Crews will apply the substance to intersections and overpasses.

Street Department crews are the same workers who collect leaves. At this point, leaf collection is expected to continue on schedule.
