August 12, 2019 - The Fort Wayne Public Art Commission will unveil the draft recommendations of the Public Art Master Plan at an open house on Monday, August 19 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Hop River Brewing, 1515 N. Harrison St.

Everyone (including those younger than 21) is welcome to attend the open house and review the recommendations as well as offer feedback on the plan. Light snacks will be provided and a cash bar will be available. No RSVPs are necessary. There will be no formal presentation but consultants and members of the City’s Public Art Commission will be available to answer questions and discuss ideas. More information is available online at

The master plan will lay out a comprehensive vision for public artworks, such as murals, sculptures, and programs, now and in the future and will help define locations and projects appropriate for Fort Wayne and its neighborhoods. The plan will identify guiding principles for developing and sustaining Fort Wayne’s collection of public artwork in a way that supports collaboration, diversity, economic vitality and the highest levels of creativity.

The plan is being developed for the Public Art Commission in partnership with the City of Fort Wayne Community Development Division and Arts United of Greater Fort Wayne. Consultants from Designing Local of Columbus, Ohio have been working on the master plan; they have gathered input from hundreds of local residents through the interactive website, an online survey, one-on-one conversations with key stakeholders and neighborhood meetings in all four quadrants of the city.

Following the August 19 open house, consultants will revise the master plan recommendations based on feedback from the public and then present the final recommendations to the Public Art Commission.
