December 9, 2019 - A 12-ton maximum weight limit for the Bluffton Road Bridge is in place until further notice.
During an annual inspection, City Engineers found maintenance concerns and hired an outside bridge inspector to take a closer look. The findings determined that the weight restriction needed to be in place.
Signs with the new weight limit are now posted and City Engineers have started the process to receive Federal funds for the bridge upgrade. The bridge posting is expected to last for several years.
There are two suggested detour routes.
- Buses and smaller delivery trucks should use Brooklyn Avenue, Taylor Street and Broadway. (see attached map)
Larger semis and heavy industrial/commercial/delivery trucks and vans should use Tillman Road , Lafayette/Clinton/US 27 and Jefferson Boulevard.
