April 13, 2020 - The Fort Wayne / Allen County 9-1-1 Center is celebrating the second full week of April (April 12-18) as National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week. This week which is nationally celebrated every year, honors the thousands of men and women who answer and dispatch emergency 9-1-1 calls, and render life-saving assistance to the world’s citizens.

This week as our nation grapples with the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic: America rightfully lauds the many public safety and medical/healthcare personnel on the front-lines in this epic battle, but we ask everyone on the outside to please keep 9-1-1 dispatchers in your thoughts and prayers, during this “their week”, as each day they answer more than 500 9-1-1 emergency calls in Fort Wayne and Allen County and provide critical life safety and lifesaving instructions to those in need.
