Michael A. Barranda was elected to City Council in 2015 as a member At-Large and is the co-chair of the Council's Public Works Committee.
He is an attorney in Fort Wayne. Michael is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and earned his Juris Doctor from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. He has been recognized as a Rising Star by the Indiana Super Lawyers publication and recieved the Up and Coming Lawyer award by The Indiana Lawyer.
Michael is an avid volunteer in the community and has dedicated countless hours of service through various non-profit organizations and public boards. A past President of the Young Leaders of Northeast Indiana, he is an advocate for helping attract and retain college graduates to the community.
Michael has been a strong voice for local businesses and community development. He was the youngest Director elected to serve on the Board of Directors for the Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce. Michael has since served on the Legislative Policy Committee for the Regional Chamber of Northeast Indiana.
In the community, Michael is proud to serve on the Board of Directors for the St. Joesph Community Hospital, Olive B. Cole Foundation, Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne and the Notre Dame Club of Fort Wayne. He has volunteered for numerous organizations including the Northeast Indiana BCA, Foellinger Foundation, Science Central and Real Men Read.
Michael grew up in Kendallville and resides in Fort Wayne with his wife, Lisa, his daughter Christina and son, Jonah. Michael and his family are active members of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
