MAPLECREST ROAD ENHANCEMENTS

Contractor: Brooks Construction
Investment: $6.5 million

Description: Project includes the widening of Maplecrest from Lake Avenue to State Street. It also includes new storm sewers, curb and gutter, street lighting, landscaping, water line, a new signal at Monarch Drive and modernizations of existing signals at State Blvd and Lake Avenue,

Proposed roadway improvements include: widening street to four (4) traffic lanes, and turn lanes at major street intersections; shared use trail on west side with sidewalk on the east side; streetscape features; stormwater drainage; signalize intersection at Monarch Dr.; street lighting and environmental reviews/analysis. Also, sharrow markings (on street bike route) will be installed.

UPDATE (August 2015): Southbound lanes complete. Brick sidewalk done acrsoss southbound lanes. Curb, sidewalk and street lighpoles installed on southbound lanes. Work to begin on Northbound lanes.

(July 31): Water line work is complete. Southbound lanes have been paved upto intermediate layer. Southbound curb is complete. Sidewalk on west side is almost done. Shambaugh has to replace about 22 street light foundations because the bolts are not centered on them.

Traffic will shift to the west side of Maplecrest.  95 percent of the trail is in.
