FAIRFIELD AVENUE STREETSCAPE

Description: This project involves concrete street rehabilitation and streetscape along Fairfield Avenue, from Main Street to Jefferson Avenue. It includes concrete repairs, new curb, new sidewalk, new lighting, and a new park strip.

UPDATES:

Late July 2017 -- Decorative street lights installed. 

Week of July 24, 2017 -- Road was re-opened. Project awaits arrival of ordered decorative street lights.

Week of July 17, 2017 -- On July 19, Wayne Asphalt laid a skim coat early in the a.m., and Road Fabrics started at 11:30, laying its Fiber grid and was done by 2 p.m. On July 20, Wayne Asphalt finished paving.

July 14, 2017 -- Beginning Monday July 17, 2017 Fairfield Avenue between Jefferson Boulevard and Main Street will close to through traffic to complete the project. Also at this time, Wayne Street and Bery Street will be closed to local traffic only between Fulton Street and Ewing Street.  This restriction will allow Hipskind Concrete sub-contractors to mill and pave Fairfield Avenue, Wayne Street and Berry Street to complete the project.  Hipskind Concrete will be doing the work and weather permitting is anticipating work will be completed on Friday July 21, 2017. There will be a marked detour for Fairfield Avenue using Ewing Street.

June 26, 2017 -- Contractor Hipskind poured the last section of concrete today, 6/26. Bercot is done with their portions, Waiting on City Lights and Signals to finish installing street lights. Asphalt portion to be completed the week of July 17.

June 12, 2017 -- All Concrete is expected to be done by June 20.  However, the asphalt portion won’t be completed until the week of July 17.

May 30, 2017 --  Bercot reopened Berry Street and set all structures. However, portions of Fairfield remain closed to vehicle traffic.

May 24, 2017 -- Contractor is currently focusing on storm sewer improvements. The intersection of Berry and Fairfield is currently closed for storm sewer improvements.  Weather permitting, the contractor plans to re-open that intersection at the end of the week (by May 27, 2017.) 

Once storm sewer work on Fairfield between Berry and Main is completed, contractor Hipskind will follow behind and install sidewalk and drive approaches.  Street light construction has also begun.

May 19, 2017 -- Be advised that beginning Monday May 22, 2017 Berry Street will be closed to through traffic at Fairfield Avenue.  This closure is part of the City’s concrete street and sidewalk improvement project between Jefferson Boulevard and Main Street.  Hipskind Concrete will be doing the work and weather permitting is anticipating this phase of work will be completed on May 29, 2017.

May 5, 2017 -- Subcontractor Wayne milled 1 1/2" of concrete.

April 5, 2017 -- Be advised that beginning Friday April 7, 2017 Fairfield Avenue will be closed to through traffic between Jefferson Boulevard and Wayne Street.  Fairfield Avenue will remain open to local traffic and businesses with restrictions.  This closure will be for the first phase of the City’s concrete street and sidewalk improvement project between Jefferson Boulevard and Main Street.  Hipskind Concrete will be doing the work and weather permitting is anticipating this phase of work will be completed on June 1, 2017. 

April 2017 --  Fairfield was closed to traffic at Jefferson and Washington . On 4/7/17, subcontractor Bercot started sawing. On 4/14/17 Bercot continued removing concrete and setting structures. On 4/21, Bercot continued removing and setting structures.On 4/28, Bercot continued removing and setting structures and Contractor Hipsking began pouring sidewalk
