April 19, 2021 - Amazon today announced plans to expand its investment in Indiana by opening a new fulfillment center in Fort Wayne. The site, anticipated to open in 2022, will create nearly 1,000 new, full-time jobs that pay at least $15 per hour and provide comprehensive benefits to Amazon employees from their first day on the job. Amazon currently has fulfillment and sortation centers in Greenfield, Greenwood, Indianapolis, Jeffersonville, Plainfield, and Whitestown. 

April 15, 2021 - The City of Fort Wayne will continue its Blue Star Banner Program to honor and recognize City of Fort Wayne residents and City of Fort Wayne government employees who are actively deployed.

The Blue Star Banner initiative started in May 2014 and has recognized more than 100 City of Fort Wayne residents and City government employees who have been actively deployed. 

Family and friends of deployed military personnel are encouraged to complete an application at www.cityoffortwayne.org/bluestarbanner. Once the applications are reviewed, banners will be made and displayed on light poles along West Jefferson Boulevard from the Time Corners area to Swinney Park. Banners are displayed through November and then removed during the winter months.
 

April 14, 2021 - Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation is looking forward to a full schedule of spring and summer activities and events in the city’s parks and facilities. The city’s pools and day camps are scheduled to be in operation, with appropriate safety precautions in place as the COVID-19 pandemic continues. Other programs and events will also be adjusted to maintain all necessary safety protocols, including social distancing, masking, and also offering virtual options when possible. 

April 15, 2021 - Mayor Tom Henry has recognized Blackhawk Christian’s state champion boys basketball team.

Earlier today, the Mayor’s office delivered certificates of excellence and lapel pins to the players and coaches. In addition, the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Bridge will feature the Blackhawk Christian colors of royal blue and gold on the evening of Friday, April 23.

“Congratulations to the players and coaches on winning the 2021 Class 2A State Basketball Championship,” said Mayor Henry. “It’s a tremendous honor to be recognized as a state champion. Thank you for representing the City of Fort Wayne with good sportsmanship and outstanding teamwork. We’re proud of each one of you. April 14, 2021 - The City of Fort Wayne’s Community Development Division today announced that 27 neighborhood associations are being awarded grants totaling more than $117,000 to improve their communities.

Any registered Fort Wayne neighborhood association or one of the City’s four Area Partnerships could apply to receive up to $5,000 for the Neighborhood Improvement Grant.
