Job Description:

SUMMARY

Working under the direction of the Manager – Golf Course Programs and Events, the incumbent collects daily fees, greets and serves the public, sells concessions, starts players, cleans pro shops, performs duties designated by management, and opens or closes shop. The incumbent is expected to exercise good judgment, independence, initiative, and professional expertise in conducting day-to-day operations. All work duties and activities must be performed in accordance with the City safety rules and operating regulations, policies and procedures as well as federal, state, and local regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the ability to interact with the public, City incumbents, and outside agencies with patience, tact, respect, and professionalism and the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Duties for all employees

  • Collects greens fees and membership fees and makes change;
  • Assigns tee times;
  • Informs customers of course conditions;
  • Takes group reservation requests;
  • Dusts, washes, and cleans shop and restrooms;
  • Collects money for other concessions;
  • Responds to public with correct information;
  • Stands on tees or uses P.A. System to start players;
  • Answers phone and gives correct information;
  • Meets with management;
  • Helps clean, store, and stage golf carts as demand requires;
  • Operates a cash register and point of sale system;
  • Communicates with public effectively and efficiently;
  • Assists with inventory as needed;
  • Assists with range duties to keep pace of play, monitor cart use, and monitor group sizes;
  • Opens or closes shops; 16-17-year-old employees must have adult supervision;

Duties for employees 18 and over

  • Picks driving range;
  • Assists with cart maintenance as needed;

Duties for employees 21 and over

  • Serves alcohol in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS

Performs other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma not required, but ability to write and do simple mathematics are essential.

OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and/or ABILITIES

  • Ability to follow specific instructions and guidelines;
  • Possesses ability to communicate with public in a professional manner;
  • Possesses ability to understand and operate a security system;
  • Possesses simple math skills;
  • Ability to understand moderately complex, relatively standardized tasks, processes or operations;
  • Ability to follow specific instructions and guidelines.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract, multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using money, weights and measures, volume and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Valid Indiana Driver's License if City vehicle is used;
  • Obtains an maintains a safe serve license if 21 years of age or older.
