Job Description:

SUMMARY

Working under the direction of the Manager – Golf Course Programs and Events, incumbent assumes the duties of the Manager in his/her absence, assists the Manager at all times, interacts with the public, assumes cashier starter role when needed, trains the cashier starter and organizes and writes reports as needed. The incumbent is expected to exercise good judgment, independence, initiative, and professional expertise in conducting day-to-day operations. All work duties and activities must be performed in accordance with the City safety rules and operating regulations, policies and procedures as well as federal, state, and local regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the ability to interact with the public, City incumbents, and outside agencies with patience, tact, respect, and professionalism and the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Receives and documents inventory;
  • Counts and deposits daily receipts;
  • Writes daily reports;
  • Deposits daily receipts;
  • Opens and closes pro shop;
  • Answers phone with correct information;
  • Supervises and schedules one to six cashier starters;
  • Meets and greets the public;
  • Orders and receives food;
  • Sells food and golf-related merchandise;
  • Replaces Manager in his/her absence and assists with programs and as needed;
  • Schedules leagues and outings;
  • Organizes and completes league board;
  • Trains cashier starters as needed.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS

Performs other duties as required.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

The incumbent is responsible to manage their performance in accordance with this job description and the performance expectations provided to them by management. Management will work with the incumbent, as needed, to ensure performance expectations are clearly communicated and performance goals are achieved.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Incumbent performs routine supervision to one to six cashier starters.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Any combination of education/experience equivalent to a high school diploma or GED;
  • Six months experience in golf shop operations;

OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and/or ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of golf;
  • Ability have good math skills in order to make change;
  • Ability to operate cash register;
  • Ability to understand security systems;
  • Ability to communicate with the public with good grammar;
  • Communicates effectively both orally and in written form.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract, multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using money, weights and measures, volume and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Valid Indiana Driver's License if City vehicle is used;
  • Obtains and maintains a safe serve license.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Incumbent normally stands, walks or lifts light objects requiring greater than normal physical abilities such as visual or hearing acuity. Work requires some contact with changing weather conditions, some lifting or moderate labor involved. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
