Job Description:

SUMMARY

Working under the direction of the GIS Manager, incumbent updates databases, maintains related records and performs other duties related to information collection and maintenance of the City’s infrastructure. Incumbent will use ESRI GIS, Microsoft or other software to perform work related to City Utilities assets, administrative and/or environmental aspects. Computers or other technological tools will be used by the employee to assist in the performance of their duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assists with various GIS, Engineering or Environmental tasks such as working with data, excel, word, research, mapping, and other related tasks.
  • Collect and organize projects for processing.
  • Collects information in field or office for projects.
  • Utilize a wide-format color scanner to scan engineering as-builts and construction drawings;
  • Enter data into various databases.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS

Performs other duties as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Incumbent has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid Indiana Driver's License if a City vehicle is used.
