Job Description:

SUMMARY

Working under the direction of the Manager - Social Media, Fundraising and Marketing, the incumbent will support social media, event planning, graphic design, sponsorship development, grant writing and content creation. The incumbent is expected to exercise good judgment, independence, initiative, and professional expertise in conducting day-to-day operations. All work duties and activities must be performed in accordance with the City safety rules and operating regulations, policies and procedures as well as federal, state, and local regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the ability to interact with the public, City incumbents, and outside agencies with patience, tact, respect, and professionalism and the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assist with social media, fundraising/marketing tasks, and community events;
  • Communicate clearly with staff, donors, sponsors, vendors, volunteers, and event guests;
  • Develop educational content for social media and marketing materials including but not limited to direct mail, newsletters, and other campaigns related to the shelter.

 

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS

Performs other duties and special projects, as assigned.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum age of 16 years old and interested in pursuing a related degree/career upon graduation;
  • Project management skills;
  • Experienced in Canva or another graphic creating program.

 

 

OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and/or ABILITIES

  • Flexibility and effective task management skills;
  • Ability to effectively communicate with people;
  • Ability to prioritize and work effectively as a member of the team;
  • Excellent written, oral, and analytical skills;
  • Proficient in Microsoft computer applications (Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook etc.);
  • Commitment to the mission of Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control;
  • High energy level and takes initiative in a fast-paced environment.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Valid Indiana Driver’s License if a City vehicle is used;
