City meetings now accessible to all city residents via Internet

Fort Wayne, Ind. – The City of Fort Wayne will begin providing real-time online coverage of regularly scheduled City meetings, beginning with today’s City Council meeting.

The meeting can be accessed via the streaming web site, http://www.cityoffortwayne.org/city-council-meetings.html.

The live web site will also include coverage of regularly scheduled meetings by the Board of Public Works, Neighborhood Presidents, Housing Authority, City Plan Commission, Redevelopment Commission and Board of Parks Commissioners.

This new streaming service is part of Mayor Tom Henry’s SmartGov initiative and his pledge to make City government more accessible to all City residents.

“SmartGov is about bringing City government closer to residents and making it easier to use. Live-streaming makes the business of government immediately accessible,” said Mayor Tom Henry.

In the past, meeting coverage was available only to cable TV subscribers, on Frontier channel 28 and Comcast channel 58.

Live streaming gives residents with Internet capabilities access to all City meetings.

The on-demand web address is http://afw.pegcentral.com/ and digital archived meetings are available.
