Fort Wayne, Ind. – The City of Fort Wayne will hold an informational meeting to update residents on the Anthony Boulevard Rail Crossing Study on Wednesday, November 30.  The meeting will be at 6 p.m. at Indiana Tech’s Andorfer Commons Theater, 1600 E. Washington Blvd.

The City commissioned DLZ Engineering to conduct a feasibility study on the cost and engineering challenges in building a railroad overpass or underpass on South Anthony Boulevard at the Norfolk-Southern tracks, just north of the Wayne Trace intersection.  An introductory meeting for this project was held in November 2010.

The Anthony Boulevard railroad crossing has been the source of frustration for residents and business owners, who have complained about traffic tie-ups.

The railroad tracks carry an average of 50 freight trains per day, disrupting traffic along a major thoroughfare that carries about 14,000 vehicles per day.

City staff and DLZ engineers will report on overpass and underpass construction options and present their recommendations, based upon a year of research.  The report will include such topics as landscaping, design and revitalization that would accompany each option.
