Initiative designed to promote local high tech jobs, education and opportunities

Fort Wayne, Ind. – At least 300 students will take part in Northeast Indiana’s 2nd Annual
TechFest on Saturday, March 10 at the Lantern Reception Hall, 4420 Ardmore Ave.

The event runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and features tournament-style video gaming, a robotics
competition, exhibitors, guest speakers and opportunities for students to network with
business leaders, company representatives and universities.

TechFest was founded last year as a collaboration between Mayor Tom Henry; the Allen County
Commissioners; ATOS, the City/County technology partner; and the Fort Wayne Chamber of
Commerce’s Graduate Retention Program.

The goal of the event is to expose youths to local high tech jobs and education programs,
in order to keep the next generation of tech talent in Fort Wayne and Northeast Indiana,
Mayor Henry said.
The daylong event showcases the talents of students in the STEM fields:  Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.  The fun-filled day also allows students to win prizes and to speak with business and university representatives to find out how their passion for technology can lead to a rewarding career, locally.
Students who have not pre-registered for the event may pay a $2 entry fee that allows them
to participate in open gaming.

Parents may drop off students in the morning and return for the 5 p.m. awards ceremony.
Lunch will be available and a concession stand will be open throughout the day.
