September 29, 2022 - Safety Village is a vital part of Fort Wayne’s safety education for children. Established in the 80’s with a focus on teaching our young children personal safety so they may grow to be adults has been its prime focus. Throughout the years it has served thousands of children in Allen, Wells, Adams, Whitley, Huntington, Dekalb, Noble County and even some children from Ohio. Last year over 3,000 kids were served. Not only do we provide a Safe Street program, but we also provide a Gun Safe program as well as Stranger Awareness.

Over the years however, Safety Village has fallen into some disrepair. It takes a lot of work and money to upkeep the largest Safety Village of its kind in the nation. That is why we are so happy that the business community and organizations are stepping forward to assist us in returning Safety Village to its prime.

4Ever Roofing is such a business. They initially brought them out to sponsor a large city building in Safety Village. Upon inspection of their building, they quickly noticed that the entire Safety Village roofing system was in complete disrepair. So, not only will 4Ever Roofing be sponsoring a building they will also be replacing the entire roofing system in Safety Village. This will be done over the course of the next few years at a value exceeding $50,000. “We are grateful to have a business such as 4Ever Roofing that cares about our community and its children. We couldn’t continue to provide a structurally safe environment at Safety Village without them” Chief Steve Reed.

As Safety Village moves to update its space, we are asking area businesses and organizations to contact us if they would like to be a part of this community treasure and help continue safety education for children. You can contact us through FWPD.org.  Tab to Community Relations/Safety Village and message us for details.
