A contractor hired by City Utilities will install a water main extension on the north side of Wald Road. The purpose of the project is to increase water pressure in the area and make water available for new businesses. Construction is expected to begin during the week of January 21, 2019 and be completed in early summer of 2019.
Fort Wayne's Divisions of Public Works and City Utilities are working together on a flood protection project for the West Central neighborhood. The project consists of installation of a concrete "knee wall" of about three-feet in height with architectural details. The knee wall will be permenent. The design also calls for the knee wall to be topped -- when needed -- with vertical supports that will hold metal stop log panels in place to provide additional protection against flooding.
Construction of the project that will run along Thieme Drive from Main Street to Washington Boulevard is planned to begin once drip shaft construction at the intersection of Nelson, Thirme and Berry is complete.
