COMMITTEE SESSIONS are held on the first four Tuesdays of each month at 5:30 p.m. in Room 35, Garden Level of Citizens Square. Committee Session is when the council members discuss the ordinances and resolutions that have been previously introduced into their respective committee during a regular session the previous week.
REGULAR SESSIONS are held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month immediately following the Committee Session in Room 35, Garden Level of Citizens Square. Regular session is the meeting where Council Members introduce ordinances and resolutions, which are then assigned into committee for later discussion. Regular Session is also the meeting where final voting is held on ordinances and resolutions that have been discussed and passed out of committee with a recommendation or no recommendation for final passage.
At the end of every Regular Session, 2nd & 4th Tuesday, Citizen Participation appears on the agenda and this is the time when citizens may address City Council regarding any topic that is within the Council's authority. To participate at a City Council meeting, the speaker must step to the microphone and lectern placed in front of the Council and when instructed by the Council President state their name and address for the record before starting their remarks.
Written communications may be directed to the City Council as a group or to individual Council members and mailed to the office of the City Clerk, Citizens Square, 200 E Berry St., Suite 110, Fort Wayne, Indiana, 46802.
